Sheppard--Marshall and allied families

Description - John Sheppard lived in Maryland probably by the late 1600s. He may have been the son of John Sheppard and grandson of Robert Sheapheard (ca. 1645-1686) of the Barbados. His grandson, John Sheppard (1737-1827), son of John Sheppard (b. ca. 1700) was probably born at Fredericktown, Cecil County, Maryland. He married Mary Ann Hudson, ca. 1773. They had twelve children, 1775-1804, all born in Fredericktown. The family migrated to Belmont County, Ohio, in 1812

Siglin family history

Description - Heinrich Sieglin (1747-1810) married Rachel (Regina?) after Christmas 1772, and served with troops from Northampton County, Pennsylvania during the Revolutionary War. Inscriptions on his grave are in German; earlier in the volume, there is discussion indicating the Siglin or Sieglin family originated in England, went to Holland as Pilgrims, and later immigrated to Pennsylvania speaking a Germanic language

Description - Smith Hawley(1847-1923) was born in Onondago County, Ontario near Hamilton and died in Ludington, Michigan. He married Gertrude Schafer (1846-1927) on 9 June 1867. She was born in Prussia, Germany. "When she was nine years of age the family emigrated to America and settled on a farm in Clinton, Co., Mich."--P.14

Description - Chiefly descendants of Jacob Springston(e) and Abraham Springston(e). "Jacob Springston(e), who died about 1778, probably in what is now Randolph County, West Virginia, married before 1772 to Elizabeth Lambert. Jacob's estate was granted his widow by the Augusta County Court, at Staunton, Va. on Nov. 17, 1778."--p.3. "Abraham Springston(e) who may have been a brother of Jacob Springstone...apparently lived in the Tygart Valley, Randolph Co. as he received a 118 acre land grant on Tygart Valley river in 1785...Abraham died about 1805, probably in Randolph Co. His widow, Mary, married in Harrison Co. Feb. 2, 1807 (bond) to Jacob Bennett..."--p. 143
